Summary
The macOS app (ISS Monitor)
The app does not collect any personal data. It does not contain analytics or tracking SDKs. The only network activity is anonymous HTTPS requests to issmonitor.com/api/data to fetch live ISS telemetry every 60 seconds. No user identifiers are sent.
The app stores your preferences (selected metric for the menu-bar title, metric / US-unit toggle, Launch at Login state) locally on your Mac using standard macOS user defaults. This data never leaves your device.
The website (issmonitor.com)
The website serves public telemetry from the International Space Station. There are no user accounts, no sign-up, and no cookies for tracking individuals.
We use Vercel Analytics to count anonymous page views and basic performance metrics. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information, and we do not combine it with any other data source.
Third-party services
- Vercel hosts the website and serves the public API. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request URL) are retained by Vercel for security and operational reasons.
- Supabase stores the public ISS telemetry time-series shown on the site. No user data is stored.
- Live telemetry is derived from NASA Lightstreamer (ISSLIVE adapter) for cabin and consumables data, and from wheretheiss.at for altitude and ground track.
